Gibsblog: Okay , miss Oyin welcome to gibsblog
Oyin: My pleasure. Thanks for the invite
Gibsblog: Thank you
Oyin: You're welcome
Gibsblog: So oyin we'll do want you to talk on or let me say we want to know your take on drugs abuse and child abuse among youth's today.
But before then,we'll do love to know a little about yourself
Oyin: Ok
I'm Williams Oyindamola. A physics electronics graduate and a Corp member serving my country Nigeria. I'm a social media manager, freelance writer and a digital marketer. I love fashion and I'm presently developing my skills in that profession.
Gibsblog: Wow that's nice
Oyin:Thanks.
Me being a physics graduate made me like the physics graduate part, smiles
Oyin: I can relate, smiles.Thanks.
Gibsblog: Ok oyin can you tell us what you know about drugs abuse...your take on certain issues concerning it?
Oyin: Well, drug abuse is vast and can be viewed from different angles
First things first. The word "abuse" behind "drug" has announced that it's negative, Means the drugs aren't used as prescribed or has been used just to fulfill one's pleasure
Today, when we hear drug abuse the first thing that comes to mind is hard drugs(cocaine, weed, tramadol and the likes)
And of course everybody has a reason. Reasonable reasons or not, they feel they are in the right
So as not to bore you. My take on drug abuse is a *NO*. There are other ways to go about things
There are a lot of ways to drain sorrow or depression but abusing drugs is not one of it. It's not even close
Gibsblog: Wow oyin , you've really said alot
Oyin: Smiles*
Thank you
Gibsblog: Okay now, from all you've said so far, what will be your advice or let me say how would you help someone or a friend you know that is deep into abusing drug's
Oyin: Ok
Truthfully, addictions can be very powerful and it's beyond self will.
And when you're advising an addictive person to quit then you have to offer something else that can distract him/her.
One thing about people abusing drugs is most of them are influenced by their circle of friends. So firstly check the 1st 7people who are closest to you, if they're struggling with this too then I'll advice he changes them, get people who will better your life, who would encourage you to do something worth while with your life. My point is, surround yourself with the right people.
Secondly. Discipline, it can't come easy but you have to take your life seriously. Only if you don't have plans to live long.
Lastly. Self control, mehn! This can be tough but you can! If you're determined and with God on your side, you'll see you're overcoming and you'll be happy with yourself at the end of it all.
I believe all this will do
Gibsblog: Yes oyin I like the word discipline, and I'm sure discipline comes with determination
Oyin: Yes it sure does
Without determination. Discipline will seem vague
Gibsblog: So I guess what you're trying to say is, any victim of drugs abuse should also be determined from their end to quit before being helped right?
Oyin: Yes. They need to understand the dangers attached and conclude within them that they want to quit the habit
Gibsblog: Wow thank you very much oyin for this....I believe it will go a long way to helping someone out there
Oyin: I'll be glad
Gibsblog:Okay now to child abuse...
What can you say
Oyin: Ok
One can abuse a child in a whole lot of ways
I don't think we can touch it all.
A child can be verbally, physically, sexually, morally... abused
So which abuse in particular are we looking at?
Gibsblog: Okay let's talk about child abuse as a whole
How do you help a child that have been through series of abuse's
Like what do you think you can do to help them get the experience off their head
Oyin: Firstly, the child needs to understand that he/she should *SPEAK UP!*
Speak to someone, speak to a responsible elder
It's a process, the trauma eats deep. The earlier you speak up the better
Gibsblog: Yes that's good , the child should speak up
Oyin: There will be a way to help out when the child speaks
Gibsblog: But how do u help the child deal with the damages after maybe the child has spoken up
Oyin: When the child speaks up then every other thing follows. There will be a direction. From there one can know the next step/actions to take
It all depends on what the child has gone through. Different foes for different folks. It's not like there's a standard formula or something
What works for child A is different from what works for child B and the scenarios might be different
Gibsblog: Yup thank you very oyin
Oyin: So, the elder needs to understand what he/she is working with
Wisdom is profitable to direct
If the case is to be reported to a higher authority, go ahead. But the major thing is the child should speak up first then all other things can follow
You're welcome Gibson
Gibsblog: Yes yes yes thank you oyin....now the last question
What do you think the government should do or what measures do you think should be put in place to curb such act?
Oyin: I think the Nigerian government isn't doing enough. It's amazing when you hear cases of rape everywhere and the conclusion is why was the lady there in the 1st place?
Meanwhile the rapist is there going about his day to day activity and busy abusing more people by the day
So I appeal to the government to take issues of child abuse seriously. Actions should be taken fast
Strict measures should be taken. Let people see that there are scapegoats so they think twice before abusing a child
Gibsblog: Yes thank you very much Miss Williams Oyindamola for your time
Gibsblogs appreciates you
Oyin: Thanks for the privilege. I'm honoured
